Long-form Documentary

Our latest project From Billions to None: The Passenger Pigeon’s Flight to Extinction,  is an award-winning documentary that reveals the forgotten story of  the extinction of the passenger pigeon in the context of conservation challenges today.

The one-hour documentary follows naturalist and author Joel Greenberg (A Feathered River Across the Sky: The Passenger Pigeon’s Flight to Extinction, Bloomsbury USA, 2014) as well as scientists, artists and teachers who reveal how the bird was ruthlessly hunted, resulting in the unthinkable loss of the most abundant bird species in North America, 100 years ago on Sept. 1, 1914.

From Billions to None aired on over 70% of the public television market in 2014/2015 and was part of Project Passenger Pigeon, an international outreach effort of over 300 institutions to remember the centenary of the extinction event and learn from it. Mrazek and Greenberg spoke at screenings and symposiums throughout 2014.

From Billions to None is being distributed to educational venues by The Video Project.  Billions won the Broadcast Award at the 2014 American Conservation Film Festival.
